Real Madrid have had a difficult week, losing Casemiro in a transfer to Manchester United, yet Carlo Ancelotti's side were able to ease to an away victory over Celta Vigo on Saturday evening.
Los Merengues started a lot quicker than in
their LaLiga Santander opener, with Karim
Benzema having the chance to open the
scoring from the penalty spot in the 13th
minute.
VAR looked at the incident which saw the ball
strike the hand of Renato Tapia and a penalty
was awarded.
Benzema struck the spot-kick past the
goalkeeper into the bottom corner, but the
hosts were able to answer back almost
immediately.
Rather ironically, Celta Vigo were level in the
22nd minute with a penalty of their own
. Eder Militao handled the ball and a penalty
was given to the hosts, with Iago Aspas
converting the set-piece.
Luka Modric put Real Madrid back in front on
the 41st minute with a shot from long-range
which just snuck inside the right-hand post.
Vinicius Jr got in on the act and made it 3-1,
bursting into the penalty area following a
quite sensational individual run.
The Brazilian breezed through defenders and
got into a one-on-one situation with the
opposing goalkeeper, who he comfortably
rounded before rolling the ball into an empty
net.
With the highlight of the match having been
provided by Vinicius Jr, the Brazilian was
once again in the thick of the action.
He played a pass into the path of Federico
Valverde, who got onto the loose ball and
side-footed the ball into the bottom left-
corner of the net.
The evening could have been capped off
perfectly when Eden Hazard took a penalty-
kick in the 87th minute, however the Belgian's
penalty was saved by Agustin Marchesin
diving down to his left.
The victory keeps Real Madrid at 100 percent
in the start of the LaLiga Santander
campaign and the squad appear very
connected moving forward.
