The father of Brazilian footballer Neymar appears to have put an end to reports regarding the possibility of his son returning to FC Barcelona next summer, according to TNT Sports.
Neymar returned to his boyhood club, Santos, after his contract with Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal was cancelled earlier this year.
Spanish media outlets such as SER Catalunya recently reported – citing unnamed sources – that the attacking winger wants to rejoin Barcelona for the 2025/2026 season, after he adapts to his fitness situation at Santos.
However, following Santos' 3-1 win over Agua Santa in the Sao Paulo tournament on Sunday, Neymar Senior explained that "our project is not just for five months, even though my son's contract is for five months," which SPORT interpreted as ruling out the possibility of him rejoining the Blaugrana.
"We didn't come here to play for just five months, we came to give Santos the opportunity to reorganize during this season, to find fans who can help the club get back on its feet - and there were a lot of people who came out for that."
